Ann Lee Home residents relocating to Albany County Nursing Home
The Business Review (Albany)
Residents of the Ann Lee Home in Colonie will be transferred to the Albany County Nursing Home starting in late May.
The moves are the first step in a plan by the nursing homes, both of which are operated by Albany County, to comply with the directives of the New York state Commission on Health Care Facilities in the 21st Century. The panel, also known as The Berger Commission, called for the consolidation of the Albany County and Ann Lee homes into a newly-built facility.
The new, 250-bed home is expected to be ready for occupancy in three-to four years.
In the meantime, the residents of both homes will be housed at the 420-bed Albany County home. The 135 Ann Lee residents all will be moved by June, 2008. No new residents are being admitted at this time.
All Ann Lee staff members also will be given jobs at Albany County.
