Birmingham Business Journal - by Lauren B. Cooper Staff

The new Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World is planning a star-studded event on Nov. 19, the eve of the Leeds store’s grand opening.

Dubbed Evening for Conservation, Bass Pro said it will hold the event in the highly anticipated new 150,000-square-foot store off Interstate 20 in Leeds, said a news release.

Slated to attend the event are musicians John Anderson and Buddy Jewell, Nascar drivers Martin Truex Jr., Tony Stewart, Donnie Allison, Bobby Allison and Red Farmer and sports starts Ben Leard, Jay Grogan, Bobby Humphrey and Paul Ott.

Professional anglers Jimmy Houston, Bill Dance, Woo Daves and Tim Horton, as well as hunters Jim and Angie Ryan, Walter Parrott, Rob Keck, Ronnie Smith and Warren Strickland also are planning to attend with other local and national celebrities.

The store will be open during the event and proceeds will go to local and national conservation groups. The event is free and open to the public.

The new store will officially open the next day, Nov. 20, and grand-opening celebrations will continue through Nov. 23.
