Salary increases the norm in NE

Boston Business Journal

According to a new survey, 63 percent of small and mid-size companies in New England intend to raise salaries in 2009.

The poll by Insight Performance Inc., a human resources consulting firm in Dedham, Mass., found that 56 percent of responding companies in New England consider the hit to employee morale as the most damaging impact of the economic downturn. Seventy-seven percent of New England firms also have no plans to downsize, according to the survey.

The poll sampled a broad cross-section of industries included financial services, high-tech, manufacturing and non-profit. The number of companies polled was not available.
