Wachovia gives $1M to Teach For America
Charlotte Business Journal
The 2005 Wachovia Championship is contributing $1 million to the Charlotte golf tournament's primary charitable beneficiary, Teach For America.
Teach For America is a national corps of recent college graduates who commit to teach in rural and urban public schools in low-income communities for two years.
This is the third consecutive year the tournament has donated $1 million to Teach For America.
"Once again, the Wachovia Championship has shown its commitment to ensuring all children have access to a quality education," says Wendy Kopp, founder and president of Teach For America. "Because of this commitment, we are able to expand the recruiting, training and support for our corps members who are teaching in low-income communities across the country. We are extremely grateful for this ongoing support."
The Wachovia Championship is a PGA Tour event sponsored by Charlotte-based Wachovia Corp. (NYSE:WB) and played at Quail Hollow Club.
