Westinghouse to expand here
Charlotte Business Journal - by Staff report
Westinghouse Electric Co. will open a new office in Charlotte in February at 3545 Whitehall Park Drive.
Employees at the office will focus on engineering, reactor instrumentation and control-system development for nuclear power plants.
“The southeastern U.S. is growing rapidly and is particularly attractive to us since it enables us to establish a presence close to our customers and partners,” says Tony Greco, senior vice president of human resources and corporate relations. “Our addition of staff in Charlotte demonstrates our continuing commitment to provide needed expertise in the nuclear market to meet the future as well as emergent customer needs for both operating plants and new build.”
A company spokesman was unavailable to say whether the company would hire locally to staff the office.
Westinghouse already has an office on Fairview Road.
Westinghouse is a division of Toshiba Corp., and is based near Pittsburgh, Pa. The company is a supplier of nuclear-plant technologies to utilities throughout the world.
