Convergys adds two to board

Convergys Corp. elected David Whitwam and Zoe Baird to seats on its board of directors.

Whitwam, 61, is the chairman and CEO of Whirlpool Corp., a position he has held since 1987. He also is a member of the board of directors for PPG Industries Inc. and the Business Roundtable's Policy Committee and Education Task Force. He serves as chairman of the Michigan Business Leaders for Educational Excellence and is a trustee of the University of Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation.

Baird, 51, is president of the Markle Foundation, a private philanthropy that focuses on the areas of health care and national security. Baird has had a long career in business, government and academia. She was associate counsel to President Jimmy Carter and an attorney in the Office of Legal Counsel of the U.S. Department of Justice. She also served on President Bill Clinton's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board and on the International Competition Policy Advisory Committee to the Attorney General. She currently serves on the Technology and Privacy Advisory Committee, which advises Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld on the use of information technology to fight terrorism.

Baird also sits on the boards of Chubb Corp. and Save the Children.

Cincinnati-based Convergys is a provider of outsourced billing, human resources and customer care services.
