Auto show rescheduled for April
Pittsburgh Business Times
The 2007 Pittsburgh International Auto Show has been rescheduled for April 26 - 30.
Originally scheduled to begin Saturday, the event was canceled at the last minute due to the collapse on Monday of a 20-foot by 60-foot section of concrete floor from the second-story loading dock of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
The Greater Pittsburgh Automobile Dealers Association, the event organizers, said the new dates are still awaiting final approval from officials at the Pittsburgh-Allegheny County Sports and Exhibition Authority, the agency that operates the Downtown convention center. Building officials need to finish inspections before the building is re-opened to the public.
Meanwhile, the Sports and Exhibition Authority selected two out-of-state engineering firms to review the ongoing inspection of a failed portion of the exposition facility.
The firms selected to check on the inspection work by the convention center's design team are Leslie E. Robertson Associates of New York, and Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates Inc., based in Cleveland.
