San Antonio a middle-of-the-road city for single professionals

San Antonio Business Journal

When it comes to a single professional's decision on where to take that next job offer, that person will often look at a host of factors besides the pay, including a city's cost of living, entertainment and singles population.

According to a new survey by relocation industry group Worldwide ERC and Primacy Relocation, San Antonio ranks in the middle when it comes to being one of the best cities for relocating singles.

The 2007 Best Cities for Relocating Singles list places San Antonio 47th out of 100.

Atlanta is the top city for relocating singles, according to the list, followed by New Haven, Conn.; Madison, Wis.; Nassau/Suffolk in New York; and Raleigh/Cary, N.C.

In Texas, the top market for relocating singles is the Austin/Round Rock area, which came in eighth. El Paso came in 45th. Fort Worth/Arlington came in 49th. Dallas came in 52nd and Houston came in 53rd. Along the border, McAllen/Edinburg/Mission came in 83rd.

Worldwide ERC and Primacy Relocation examined a wide range of factors, including the overall cost of living, outdoor/adventure activities, prevalence of bars, health clubs, sporting events and concert venues, crime rates, male-female ratios, diversity, unemployment rates and the percentage of the population using online dating.

Worldwide ERC is based in Washington, D.C., while Primacy Relocation is based in Memphis.
