PR firm hires Mercury News managing editor

Silicon Valley / San Jose Business Journal

Managing Editor Dave Satterfield is leaving the San Jose Mercury News to join Sitrick and Co., the corporate communications company said Tuesday.

Satterfield has managed the newsroom of the Bay Area’s second-largest paper for five years, a time when the paper’s weekday circulation has dropped from 271,997 to 224,000. It is second in the Bay Area among daily newspapers behind the San Francisco Chronicle 386,000 weekday circulation.

Los Angeles-based Sitrick specializes in crisis management among other areas. It represented former Hewlett-Packard Co. Chairman Patricia Dunn in her fight over boardroom leaks, for example.

Satterfield will work in Sitrick’s Silicon Valley/San Francisco operation.
