Janet McAfee taking over operations of Edward L. Bakewell Inc.

Janet McAfee, one of the largest residential real estate firms in St. Louis, is taking over the operations of competitor Edward L. Bakewell Inc.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Representatives from Janet McAfee notified its brokers of the deal this morning.
Edward L. Bakewell, founded in St. Louis in 1910 and headquartered in Clayton, is led by President Sarah Bakewell, granddaughter of founder Edward L. Bakewell Sr. The firm is based in Clayton and has 51 licensed agents. Bakewell and the firm’s agents will relocate to the Janet McAfee office located in Ladue.
Janet McAfee Inc., led by President Ted Thornhill, is based at 9889 Clayton Road in Ladue. Janet McAfee, founded in 1975, is the fifth largest residential real estate agency in St. Louis with nearly 100 licensed agents and sales volume of $300 million.
“We have the utmost respect for the Bakewell associates; they are highly regarded within our industry and their business parallels ours in many respects,” Thornhill said in a statement.
