St. John’s patient tower ahead of schedule

Construction of a new $150 million patient tower at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center is ahead of schedule and is now expected to open in April 2010 instead of July 2010, the hospital said Thursday.

The 315,000-square-foot, nine-level tower will include 180 private inpatient rooms.

The construction team includes Northstar Management Co., Christner Inc., McCarthy Building Cos. Inc., Heideman Associates Inc., SSE Inc. Structural Engineers, Rock Hill Mechanical Corp., Guarantee Electrical Co., Trojahn Plumbing Systems and Engineered Fire Protection LLC.
