The Business Journal of the Greater Triad Area

Triad cities ranked high on a survey of the "Best Cities for Relocating Families."

The Greensboro-High Point area ranked 11th out of 50 midsize metropolitan areas (populations of 575,000 to 1.25 million) on the survey. The Winston-Salem area ranked 12th out of 50 small metropolitan areas (populations of 350,000 to 575,000) on the survey.

The survey, conducted by Worldwide ERC and Primacy Relocation, looked at a wide range of factors, including cost of living, crime rate, home affordability, recreation and leisure opportunities, job growth and school expenditures per student.

Elsewhere in North Carolina, Charlotte ranked 20th in large metropolitan areas (populations greater than 1.25 million). The Raleigh-Cary area placed third in the midsize areas; Durham ranked third and Asheville 23rd among small metro areas.
