Alliant Techsystems gets $26M space-testing contract
Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal - by Chris Newmarker Staff Writer
The U.S. Air Force has awarded Alliant Techsystems Inc. a $26.1 million contract to help design a system to simulate an outer space environment for testing out hardware, the Eden Prairie-based company said Monday.
The contract involves design, fabrication, installation and testing of the Space Threat Assessment Testbed System.
The system is meant to help the Department of Defense and other federal agencies to test out technology without the cost and scheduling issues involved with a space flight.
Overall program management and systems engineering will be done at ATK’s facility in Goleta, Calif.
